ITUG Summit 2006…A Great Success!
On 15-18 October, the NonStop community from around the world gathered in San Jose, California for ITUG Summit 2006 – the premier annual gathering of the NonStop community. This year was a wonderful success and the new conference format, featuring the addition of Businesses Application Solutions content, served to be a sensation and created a well-rounded educational experience for all.
ITUG provided an exciting technical program line up with over 100 technical sessions. Attendees had the opportunity to gain insight from HP developers, managers, and product engineers, experienced NonStop users, and third-party vendors. The featured speakers included HP executives such as Shane Robison, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy and Technology Officer, and Martin Fink, Vice President and General Manager; NonStop Enterprise Division and Open Source & Linux Organization. HP NonStop customer speakers included Martin Edelman, Senior Manager – Store Solutions from Home Depot, Rich Galloway, Senior Software Engineer from AOL, Will Cardwell, Chief Executive Officer from Valimo Wireless and Mikko Saarela, Senior Business Consultant, Business Customers/Consulting from Elisa Corporation; and from Intel, Lisa Graff, General Manager of Server Platforms. During the general sessions, the HP and Intel speakers shared information about the significant progress made in leveraging industry standards, maintaining leadership in real-time solutions, and creating new platforms in record time. The featured customer speakers shared exciting stories about how their companies are creatively implementing NonStop Solutions to meet their challenging business needs. Additional highlights included a host of interesting and informative breakout sessions. These ranged from business application solutions (finance, enterprise solutions, and communications, media, and entertainment) and developing applications to business intelligence, platforms, and managing enterprise applications. Clearly identified as overview, technical, or advanced technical, the breakouts were designed to provide relevant content for developers, system managers, and business users. Special interest group sessions facilitated meetings with experts in disaster recovery, Java, NonStop SQL, Open Source, and more. A comprehensive set of vendor presentations complemented the booth activities in the Exhibit Hall. The third annual ITUG Summit Leader’s Day, a day long event focused on business sessions and interaction with HP executives offered a unique opportunity for HP NonStop customer executives to explore the topic: New Opportunities for the Real Time Business.
During the closing session of ITUG Summit 2006, ITUG’s incoming chairman, Scott Healy, highlighted his goals for ITUG during 2007. Scott also announced the dates for ITUG’s major conferences in 2007. We hope you’ll join us at ITUG Summit 2007 at the HP Technology Forum (HPTF) 18-21 June in Las Vegas, Nevada or ITUG Europe 2007 8-10 October in Brighton, England. More information about both events will be provided in the coming weeks.

"ITUG Summit demonstrates how ITUG can thrive in a more competitive and heterogeneous marketplace. ITUG Summit has distilled into a leaner event but is all the more intense and focused for that very reason. The attendees and vendors are absolutely the who's who of the NonStop world. There is no comparable forum for sharing ideas and keeping informed on all fronts. ITUG Summit attendees access to key HP personnel is more open and egalitarian then ever."
