ITUG Advocacy

Mission Statement

The mission of the ITUG Advocacy is to pro-actively discover the interests of the ITUG Membership, by way of the ITUG Regional User Groups (RUGs) and Special Interest Groups (SIGs), and to advocate those interests to HP. The desired result is better HP NonStop products, faster.

Action Plan

For 2006, there are three specific activities the new ITUG Advocacy will undertake:

  1. Proactive Representation of the RUGs and SIGs
  2. Development of a new, highly collaborative, ITUG Web Site
  3. Development of a new HP World Wide Survey

Proactive Representation of the RUGs and SIGs

"Proactive Representation of the RUGs and SIGs" means knowing, understanding and advocating their interests in real-time. In this new model, the ITUG RUGs and SIGs are the primary advocacy channels for HP NonStop. Therefore, not only does this approach result in a better advocacy, but it greatly increases the value of RUG and SIG membership and participation, and thereby increases the value of ITUG membership.

The ITUG Advocacy Chairman’s plan of action is to:

  1. Participate in proactive, frequent dialogue with the RUG and SIG leaders and membership, making sure RUG and SIG feedback reaches HP accurately, and timely.
  2. Participate in the design of the new ITUG web site. Represent the needs of the RUGs, SIGs and Advocacy. Make sure the new web site provides powerful and easy-to-use collaboration tools.
  3. "Feel the pains of the RUGs and SIGs" by continuing to be hands-on, keeping "skin in the game". Participate as a moderator in of one of the SIGs (Java SIG). Participate as an officer in one of the RUGs (President of SunTUG, the Florida Tandem Users Group).

Development of a New, Highly Collaborative Web Site

The new web site will provide powerful, easy-to-use, collaboration tools that will not only facilitate the RUGs and SIGs, but will also facilitate the needs of the new ITUG Advocacy. The Web Committee has established a goal of delivering the new web site to the ITUG membership in time for the ITUG Summit 2006.

By funding development of the new web site, the ITUG Board is demonstrating long-term commitment to the needs of its membership. On behalf of the membership, many thanks to the ITUG Board for its support of the new web site!

Development of a New HP World Wide Survey

In contrast to the fast, nimble and direct input that will be provided by the RUGs and SIGs, there is also a complementary need to measure "overall customer satisfaction for the past year". This is the role of the New World Wide Survey.

Following a thorough analysis of past World Wide Surveys, the ITUG Board determined that the past surveys have not provided information that is useful and relevant to ITUG and to the HP NonStop Enterprise Division (NED). Therefore, for 2006, the ITUG Advocacy will participate in the complete overhaul and redesign of the survey. The new survey will include more questions that are relevant to NonStop, and will include advanced statistical trending analysis.

These are just a few examples of information that will be gathered through the World Wide Survey:

  1. Overall satisfaction with specific HP NonStop products over the past year
  2. Satisfaction with HP NonStop products, covering, in addition, HP NonStop users who are not presently ITUG Members
  3. Interest level in NonStop products, including users who are HP customers but not presently NonStop customers, and users who are HP customers, but not presently ITUG members

As you can see from the few examples above, the redesigned World Wide Survey will greatly enhance the analytical capabilities of the new ITUG Advocacy. The advocacy will be promoting the survey to the entire ITUG membership, and will be soliciting your participation.
