HP NonStop Users Return to Amsterdam for ITUG Europe 2006

More than 500 members of the HP NonStop community from 30 countries gathered at The RAI Forum Centre for ITUG Europe 2006. This year’s conference sponsors included HP, Intel, ACI, DMB, CDP, and GoldenGate and also drew 45 different exhibitors.

ITUG Europe 2006 Conference Chairman, Volker Dietz, and Conference Vice-Chairman Ed van der Schaft welcomed attendees to Amsterdam and introduced Martin Fink, VP & General Manager and Neil Pringle, Director of NonStop Enterprise Division, HP EMEA who gave an HP NonStop update. Fink and Pringle gave an HP NonStop update to the audience.

Tuesday featured speaker presentation was given by Richard Curran, Director of Customer Solutions Group, Intel EMEA. As ITUG represents the entire spectrum of participants related to the HP NonStop community, featured speakers extended beyond HP executives and included Craig Broom of Link Interchange Network Limited.

ITUG offered a new conference format this year, which included the usual IT Infrastructure Solutions along with the new Business Application Solutions. Thirty two IT Infrastructure Solution sessions were scheduled during ITUG Europe, which includes sessions that cover Platforms, Developing Applications, and Managing Enterprise Applications. Twenty six Business Application Solution sessions scheduled, which includes session that cover Financial Services Industry, Communications, Media, Entertainment (Telco) Industry, and Healthcare. This new conference format was very well attended and will also appear at ITUG Summit 2006 in San Jose, California, 15-18 October. This year’s conference offered seven Special Interest Group (SIG) sessions focusing on Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity SIG, Java SIG, NonStop SQL SIG, Open Source SIG, Operations Management SIG, Performance SIG, and Security and Audit SIG

The closing general session for the conference proved as strong as its opening with insightful wrap-up comments by Olaf Swantee, Senior Vice President of Sales Technology Solutions Group, HP EMEA.
