“How did that happen?” or “When did they do that?” are questions frequently asked by a Business. These are not always straightforward questions to answer. To understand who or what was responsible for each event in a chain may not be immediately obvious. Indeed, it may be a combination of actions by individuals or groups, taken months or even years before, which cause an event to happen spawning the questions above. Accounting trails enable events to be analysed in order to understand what was done and in what sequence. Without them, this is a difficult, if not impossible task. To verify, collect and store these Accounting logs securely while guaranteeing their integrity is therefore essential, with both commercial and legal ramifications if accountability cannot be proven.
