Six Sigma Production and Cost Reduction: How SOA Helps Achieve Both at Deutsche Telekom

At Deutsche Telekom, billing and accounting systems play an important role in determining company profits and customer satisfaction. In this presentation, Dr. Christoph Boehm will provide an overview of the billing and accounting business processes, the IT systems that power them, and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce cost and improve business operations for voice and IP services. He will provide insight into the key role that service oriented architecture and the combination of dynamic computing and HP technology based on Nonstop servers play in enabling better business outcomes at Deutsche Telekom.

Biography

Dr. Boehm is executive vice president of IT operations and chief technology officer of Active Billing where he oversees design, software implementation, and IT operations for all applications and business services in billing and accounting. He is responsible for product introductions, product quality and corporate cash flows especially for more than 30 Mio fixed line retail customers.

He leverages more than 15 years experience in software development, IT operations and logistics. The latest milestones introduced service oriented architectures and dynamic computing environments in applications with extremely high data volume.

Biography

Frank Cote is director of Tandem Technical Services, a position he has held at CMEG since 2007. In this role Cote is responsible for the performance, maintenance, installation and support of CMEG's HP NonStop computers and the applications that run on them; including CMEG Globex®, PRS and TOPS.

Cote joined CMEG in 1998 as a database analyst in the Tandem Technical Services department to help implement the launch of GLOBEX2. In 2000 Cote was promoted to manager of the Tandem Technical Services department. In 1998, Cote replaced CMEG's three Tandem K-boxes with S-boxes and later migrated CMEG off the S-boxes onto 11 Itanium systems. Cote also migrated CMEG's production Globex® systems from Wacker Drive offices to the RDC and then moved the remaining systems to the ADC.
